This program presents the complete
package of how I develop my approach
for on-location painting. Topics covered
include: a presentation of the 12-color
palette, principles of color, how to
work with color families and their opposites
to obtain maximum luminosity of hue,
granulation, and lifting. Also discussed
are greys and near-greys, darks and blacks,
how they are mixed and how they best
can be used in painting. The workshop
demonstrates transparent watercolor,
and how opaques can be used to add impact.
A complete on-location demonstration
including setup, drawing, and composition
lesson, to completed painting finishes
the production.

| water media
is a term describing any medium using
water to thin or dilute the paint—including
watercolor, gouache, acrylic and casein.
The purpose of this program is
to give the viewer a solid foundation in
each of these water media and how they
work in combination.
I completely demonstrate through example
and discuss each of these water media and
their visual qualities and handling characteristics
when used transparent, translucent and opaque.
Then I discuss and demonstrate different
water media combinations.
Finally, I show a gallery of my paintings and
talk of the work along with the media used
and why it is used.
