Notes on Early
Spring Light, San Juans
by Stephen Quiller

Late February through early April is one
of my favorite times for painting. While
most folks are complaining about the wind,
mud, snow and rain, on good days I respond
to the melting of ice and reflections on
the water, the patches of snow and open land
with long snow shadows, and long raking light.
This painting is typical of the compositions
I look forward to during this season.
